This is what i made for lunch the other day. I thought it was a really good summer meal. Cold Asian rice noodle salad with grilled salmon and herbs from the garden

And this is what my garden looks like now

I'm so proud of my babies!!!

This is the last addition to my living room. I've been wanting a piece of furniture that could serve as a bar for a while now. So after much research I found this really cheap piece that does the job as well as the vases, and, most importantly, THE pink swan. Now all I need is a really cool vintage martini set!

Summer dinner for two

I usually work late so I rarely get to be home to cook dinner, but tonight I did, and i came up with a great solution to use up all i had in the fridge AND get my man to eat his veggies!

Fish Tacos! Loaded with lettuce, avocado, red onions, tomatoes and cilantro from the garden! We also made grilled corn on the cob that we ate with just butter and salt and I have to say it was one of the best things I've ever had! A little smokiness from the grill, creaminess from the butter and sweet sweet corn, mmmmm...

Summer dinner for a crowd

Yesterday i went over to my friend Cyndie's house for happy hour. She is such a great host, and had set the most beautiful table with amazing food, not to mention the tablecloth, silverware etc...It was just perfect summer finger food: Light, fresh and colorful. Thanks girl!

On a different note, she also has the world's cutest bathroom and i just had to get it in here

Darryl and I had our anniversary dinner at a restaurant called Solera. They have a really nice patio that is perfect for summer, and it doesn't look like anything I've seen in Denver before. The menu is sort of Colorado chic: Goat cheese, lamb, scallops, the usual. A little pricey but everything was very good, including service! They also have a good happy hour, but for that you have to sit inside, which doesn't make any sense...
We were pretty silly that day so it was hard to pick some decent pictures

Mozart Lounge

I am always on the hunt for a good old dive bar, and i usually use the neon signs as the main criteria to whether or not I should go inside. I know, is pretty strange, but I'm a sucker for cool neon signs.
I live right off of Colfax avenue, which is one of the country's longest avenues and used to be a highway. There are still tons of motels, old theaters and diners dating back to the days of the cruising culture of the 50s. And that means lots of neon signs!
So the other day me and my friend Cynthia decided to try out The Mozart Lounge, because i kept driving by and LOVED the sign, and also to take a break from the P.S. Lounge, our favorite Colfax dive and home away from home, where Pete, the owner always welcome us ( and all the other girls) with a shot and a rose.
Turned out the Mozart lounge neighborhood dive had just turned into Aqua lounge neighborhood gay bar. They kept the neon sign at least for now (thank god) and have a smoking patio which is always a plus in my book. The decor was kinda pretentious yet falling a part-ish, and they didn't have any tonic for our gins but were nice enough to run and get us some. I'm happy they're there but overall i don't think we will be going back.

Summertime

I've been pretty busy between work and the world cup, and not really in the mood for writing. But the other day I decided to brave the heat and go get some groceries ( I'm not using the term " brave" lightly, believe me) when i saw THIS:

I'm kinda speechless really.
